CONSULTATION ON CORE LABOUR STANDARDS & IMPROVING WORK CONDITIONS
With the strong belief multi - stakeholder dialogue and consultations as a means to resolve complex supply chain issues, ASK is committed to facilitating such consultations aiming to achieve some concrete and innovative results. In the past, ASK has been involved both as a facilitator and a participant in a number of consultations and workshops with key stakeholders from private sector, MNC’s, buying houses, agents, suppliers, manufactures on raising awareness on the Core Labour Standards.
The consultation and workshops focus on:
ASK Participated in the World Bank consultation on strengthening the implementation of CSR in global supply chains.
The focus of this consultation was the apparel and agriculture sectors, and was held in China, Honduras, India, Kenya, the United States, and Europe. The entire project consortium met with a diverse range of parties in these locations, including suppliers, stakeholders (nongovernmental organizations [NGOs], trade unions, multi- stakeholder initiatives, business networks and public officials), buyers (multinational companies), and workers.
A number of concrete and pragmatic strategies were proposed to address each of these barriers, the complete report of the consultation was released in Oct 2003 and is available at
