CAPACITY BUILDING FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Drawing inspiration from the mission of ASK which is “ to be a capacity building institution which enables community based organizations (CBOs), intermediary organizations and the Corporate sector to achieve and sustain visible socio-economic development“, the Division further reaches out to the implementing and executing agencies of R&R Projects, which includes Government bodies, NGO's, autonomous institutions, private sector and financial corporations, to build their capacities on social development issues. The Division provides customized training inputs based on the scope and the Project context.
The Division members have been engaged as Trainers to provide trainings on issues of R&R. Some of the key capacity building assignments undertaken by our team members comprise of the following:
Capacity Building for Social Development (R&R) in India, Asian Development Bank
This project initiative by ADB and implemented by Sheladia Inc. aimed at developing capacity of Apex level Institutions like NHAI and DFI. In this initiative ASK team member played the role of Training Specialist and conducted trainings to sensitize the various stakeholders, within the government, on the issues of displaced people and facilitate a process of identifying effective ways of addressing these concerns.
Capacity building of R&R Officers at National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)
ASK team members facilitated various trainings with the team of R&R officers. Trainings conducted focused on sensitizing the officers on a participatory, process-oriented and holistic approach to resettlement and rehabilitation.
Capacity building on R&R, Coal India Limited, (CIL) MP, Bihar & Orissa
As a capacity building organization, ASK team members facilitated the process of building the potential of the CIL R&R officers working on a joint CIL – World Bank Project. The training inputs were provided on adoption of a more participatory, process-oriented and holistic approach for R&R Project implementation. Trainings were conducted on developmental issues and concepts relevant in the context of R&R.
